The City of Muscatine is reminding residents that they must obtain permits for their dogs and cats according to city ordinance, and the process is now easier than ever, a news release said.
Purchasing a license tag and attaching it to your pet's collar is one of the most important things you can do as a responsible pet owner, the release states. Additionally, displaying a current muscatine tag on your pet's collar will help animal control officers and shelter staff locate lost pet owner information. Your pet's current permit could be your pet's ticket home and reunite you with your family sooner.
Muscatine has partnered with PetData, the nation's only full-service animal license provider, to offer an easier registration process today (January 19, 2024). In the coming weeks, PetData will begin sending pet license renewal notices by mail to dog and cat owners.
Also new on the Muscatine Pet Data site is the ability to purchase dog park passes. Passes will be issued for the same length of time as your dog's license tag, and dog park passes will be available for purchase along with your dog's license. Passes cost $15 for a 1-year pass, $30 for a 2-year pass, and $45 for a 3-year pass. These fees are in addition to dog license fees for City of Muscatine residents. There is also an option for non-Muscatine residents to purchase just a dog park pass, but the same documentation requirements apply.
Dog and cat licenses can be purchased for one, two, or three year terms. Rabies vaccinations must be given at the time of licensure, and vaccinations must be valid for the entire duration of the licence.
License fees for modified cats and dogs are $10 for a one-year license, $20 for a two-year license, and $30 for a three-year license. Seniors age 65 and older are eligible for a 50% discount on modified pet permits.
License fees for unaltered dogs and cats are $25 for a one-year license, $50 for a two-year license, and $75 for a three-year license.
Remember that all dogs and cats over 6 months of age must have a rabies vaccine and be cleared to use muscatine. Spaying/neutering is encouraged!
To obtain your license online, go here and click “Online” under “Get your license now” to get started. Cat and dog owners can license multiple pets at the same time and easily upload the necessary documents. Don't forget to add your dog park pass.
