JACKSON, Tenn. — The Dream Center held an event for women in business Thursday at its new location at 59 Oilwell Road in Jackson.
Their purpose is to give hope to hopeless people.
Participants enjoyed a meal and had the opportunity to network with other women in business.
Dream Center Executive Director Gail Gustafson was very grateful to the women who participated.
“We're really blessed to be together in one building instead of being spread out in Jackson and Humboldt and other places. It makes life easier,” Gustafson said.
Gustafson said the center currently has about 27 children, including a baby born Sunday.
“And it's great just to see them come forward and be able to ride their bikes safely here,” Gustafson said. “It just puts my mind at ease.”
Gustafsson went on to tell the women the purpose of the center.
“We are a transitional home for women and women with children,” Gustafson said. “We house them, we clothe them, we feed them, we help them find jobs. Help them get back on their feet and become independent in all aspects of their lives.”
Gustafsson also said that starting over is something we all need in life.
“This is a place to start over, and if you're willing to put in the effort, you'll definitely achieve your goals,” Gustafson said.
Gustafsson also thanked those who helped make events like this possible.
Gustafson matched the servers in black, who she said were great to work with, with the women in blue, who she said were exceptional volunteers.
“You'll never have a better employee than the girls at Dream Center. I can guarantee you that. They're incredible,” Gustafson said.
Gustafson also said the next project for the Dream Center is building a gymnasium.
