Iran fires missile at Israel
Iran's drone strikes and missile launches against Israel have sparked conversations on Ghanaian social media platforms about the possibility of world war.
Al Jazeera reported that Iran launched more than 300 “killer drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles” at Israel on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
The report said Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said his country was able to intercept the missile and prevent serious damage.
“In cooperation with the United States and additional partners, we managed to defend the territory of the State of Israel. There was little damage. This is the result of an excellent operation by the Israel Defense Forces,” he said.
However, he added: “The operation is not over yet. We must remain alert and attentive to the instructions issued by the Israel Defense Forces and the Home Army. We must be prepared for all scenarios. “However, we have stopped the most significant wave,” he added. [of the attack]And we succeeded in doing that. ”
Ghanaians are following the issue on social media with concern that it could escalate into a global war.
Amidst the fears, there are jokes that the government could cite the conflict as the reason for the country's economic woes.
This position stems from the fact that the Russo-Ukrainian war is constantly cited as a major factor in the recent economic downturn.
Some users continue to debate where Ghana would align if the government needed to make such a decision.
Most of the tweets believe that Ghana will side with Israel because its main partners, the US and UK, are allied with Israel.
There are also common jokes about whether the Ghanaian Armed Forces will be capable of defending the country.
