san antonio – Hearing news of a tragedy can be difficult for anyone, including those directly involved in the audience following the story. The Justice Department's report on the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde is difficult for many to understand.
“It was really hard today just to re-listen to the newscast. It must be very difficult for parents just listening to that because they feel a lot of empathy for these kids,” said Marian Sokol with the South Texas Child Bereavement Center. CEO said.
For people dealing with anxiety, depression, or stress, communicating those feelings and emotions is important.
Sokol said tragedies like Uvalde often leave people feeling helpless. Instead of focusing on what she can't do, she recommends giving back to the community and helping those who can.
Sokol advises those suffering from psychological trauma to take advantage of the resources available to them.
