BUTTE — The Montana Western women's basketball team and the Montana Tech men's basketball team extended their winning streaks against their rivals Thursday night in a Frontier Conference doubleheader at the HPER Complex.
The Bulldog girls have won four straight against the Odiggers, and Tech's last regular season win in the series will be in 2022.
No. 8 Odigerman recorded his third straight win against the Bulldogs. Western's last win against Tech came on Dec. 3, 2022 in Dillon. The last time the Bulldogs had a win at his HPER complex was on February 1, 2018.
Tech plays at Providence on Saturday and Western hosts Rocky Mountain College.
Here's a synopsis of both games:
Western Montana Women 75, Montana Tech 55
For the Bulldogs, Jordan Sweeney piled up a team-high 19 points, Shaney Mack added 18 points, and Western overcame a big third quarter to earn its second conference win, ending its third straight loss to Tech.
Mack made four 3-pointers and Sweeney made three triples.
Western (10-7, 2-2 Frontier) built a 30-26 lead at halftime, outscored Tech 28-14 in the third frame and entered the fourth quarter up 58-40.
Maddie Moy scored 12 points, Joelle Momberg added 11 points and Isabella Land added 10 points for the Bulldogs.
Tech (10-7, 1-3) suffered its third straight conference loss after an upset win over a top-ranked team from Rocky Mountain University in the Frontier opener. The Audigers were led by Aubrey Rademacher with a game-high 21 points, Allie Cleverly with 15 points on three 3-pointers, and Liv Wangerin with 10 points.
8th Montana Tech Men's 81, Montana Western 76
Caleb Berach led the Odigers with 19 points, including four 3-pointers, and Asa Williams scored 16 points for the Odigers in a game that saw the teams tie four times and change the lead 12 times. outperformed the Bulldogs.
Keely Bake hit a triple with 6:21 left in the game to give Tech a 62-59 lead, and the Oredigers never trailed after that.
Hayden Deacance had 13 points for the Oredigers, who are undefeated in conference play (14-3, 4-0). A win against Providence on Saturday would give the Odigers a win over each Frontier team after the first game of conference play.
Chrishon Dixon scored 10 points for Tech, while Bake and Michael Ure each added eight points.
Western (8-9, 1-3) was led by Jalin Stepney's 23 points, Michael Haverfield's 15 points, including four 3-pointers, and Abi Adedo's 14 points.
