AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Wellstar will hold a groundbreaking and contract signing ceremony for the long-awaited Wellstar Columbia County Medical Center.
The event includes:
- Brian Kemp Georgia Governor
- First Lady of Georgia Marty Kemp
- Sonny Perdue, Chancellor of the University System of Georgia
- Dr. Brooks Keel, President of Augusta University
- Doug Duncan, Columbia County Commission Chairman
- Candace L. Sanders, President and CEO, WellStar Health System
- Ralph Turner, Director, Wellstar MCG Health Hospital
WellStar team members on the Augusta campus will later have the opportunity to sign on to Beam.
When WellStar Columbia County Medical Center and the adjacent clinic building open in 2026, the full-service acute care hospital will have 100 inpatient beds. The emergency department will be a Level II trauma center. Surgical platform including operating room, laboratory, radiotherapy and endoscopy. and a 90,000-square-foot medical office building that includes primary care, women's health and other specialty areas.
Wellstar Columbia County Medical Center will expand access to the same level of world-class care found at Wellstar MCG Health to residents of Columbia County and surrounding areas. In addition to expanding access to care, the new hospital's location near Interstate 20 complements the resources offered by Wellstar MCG Health in Richmond County.
