RALLEY, N.C. (March 18, 2024) – New and repeat degree students at Wake Tech could have most or all of their tuition and fees covered next year, thanks to a new Next NC Scholarship .
Next NC Scholarships are available to help North Carolina students from households with incomes of $80,000 or less pursue higher education at one of the state's 58 community colleges or the state's 16 public universities.
Eligible community college students are guaranteed at least $3,000, which covers most if not all of their tuition. Scholarships can also be used to pay for tuition and books. Money does not need to be paid back.
Next NC combines federal Pell Grants and state financial aid programs to create a simplified and predictable scholarship system that is easier to understand and makes education more affordable for most North Carolinians. It is forming.
Applying is easy. He only has until June 1, the priority application date, to submit his 2024-25 Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Wake Tech's code is 004844. No other forms or documents are required. Once your FAFSA is submitted, Wake Tech Financial Aid staff will determine and verify your eligibility.

For families with household incomes under $80,000, Pell Grants and Next Combined, NC Scholarships allow students to attend college at little or no cost.”
To receive the Next NC Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
- North Carolina residents who are eligible for in-state tuition.
- A high school graduate or a person with a qualification equivalent to a high school graduate.
- Households with annual adjusted gross income (AGI) of $80,000 or less.
- Be enrolled in an eligible degree, diploma, or certificate program for the 2024-25 academic year.
- Earn at least 6 credit hours each semester. Part-time students will receive partial awards.
- Meets Wake Tech's Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards.
- Students who complete the 2024-25 FAFSA and have a resulting Student Aid Index (SAI) of 7,500 or less.
Wake Tech will host FAFSA Fridays at four campuses on the fourth Friday of each month through July, as well as April 27 to help students complete the FAFSA and answer common financial aid questions. FAFSA Day will be held at three locations on Sunday.
