Visit Baltimore's Black-Owned Business Directory The BoP Pass helps residents and visitors alike explore some of the city's hidden gems while promoting Black-owned businesses. Black History Month is in full swing and the Central Collegiate Athletic Association college basketball tournament is just around the corner. The leader “bop” is Baltimore slang for a long walk. Visit Baltimore leaders created the BoP Pass so you can walk through all of the city's history, shops, restaurants, and more during Black History Month and beyond. Couples Tea House offers a variety of services. “What we hope they get when they walk through the door is a warm feeling,” said Lynette Dodson, co-owner of Couples Tea House. She says, “People say it's like walking into a store and getting a warm hug.'' Dodson and her husband, Eric Dodson, have purchased Couples Tea as part of their participation in the BoP Pass. We're excited to offer great deals on the house. “Her BoP pass at Couples Tea House offers amazing discounts on breakfast, lunch menus and tea,” said Lynette Dodson. Al Hutchinson and her team at Visit Baltimore created her BoP pass several years ago. Back then, it was mainly about Black History Month. Now we work on it all year round. “This is a great way to ensure that Baltimore residents and visitors celebrate Baltimore's small businesses that make significant contributions to the betterment of our communities,” said Hutchinson, president and CEO of Visit Baltimore. It's a method.” This Black History Month, as the week of the CIAA Tournament approaches, Hutchison and his team are ramping up their efforts to boost Black-owned businesses. “We have significantly enhanced the BoP Pass and created a Black-Owned Business Directory that represents approximately 200 African-American-owned businesses in the greater Baltimore area. We also want to direct these visitors to our destinations.'' Couples Tea House is listed in the Black-Owned Business Directory and is part of the Dodson family's neighboring business, Vinyl and Pages. The same goes for book and record stores. The Dodsons said it was all good and they welcomed the exposure. “With the BoP Pass, we want to bring people who have never been to Howard Street or come to Baltimore to know about both of our businesses. When you come here, we want you to experience what we have to offer on this block, which is an amazing array of Black-owned businesses,” Eric Dodson said. We also want to drive these visitors to a destination that brings the CIAA Basketball Tournament to all of our great attractions,'' Hutchinson said.
Couples Tea House is listed in the Black-Owned Business Directory, as is the Dodson family's neighboring business, a book and record store called Vinyl and Pages. The Dodsons said it was all good and they welcomed the exposure.
