BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia Tech football's full 2024 schedule was officially announced on Wednesday's ACC Network schedule announcement show. Each of the Hokies' 12 matchups will be finalized, including exciting matchups against nationally ranked Clemson and in-state rival Virginia, as well as a heated atmosphere at Lane Stadium Thursday night.
Head coach Brent Pry, in his third season on the job, returns most of his offensive playmakers, along with quarterback Kyron Drones and a number of starters on defense, and ranks fourth nationally in fewest passing yards and first in the ACC. Big Ten opponents will advance to Blacksburg for the second straight season, with Rutgers facing Tech on September 21st, Clemson Tech (November 9th) and Georgia Tech (October 26th). Two ACC programs will compete at Worsham Field. .
The Hokies will host Boston College on Oct. 17, playing on Thursday nights for the third straight season. They begin conference play in late September and are also scheduled to play on Friday Night Lights when they travel to South Florida to take on the Miami Hurricanes. .
In a bit of a departure from recent seasons, the Hokies will enjoy two opening days. One in mid-October and one in mid-November.
Five conference games will be played in November, and Pry and his staff will face two new head coaches in the ACC.
