Will flash mobs be revived next?
Marketing for Donald Glover's new show took a strange turn.
If you've been on social media this week, you've probably seen the following clip. Tyra Banks Courtside At a Brooklyn Nets game, he was surrounded by two people dressed as fur. (Perhaps they were real fur; it's not clear from the footage.) This was memorable and surreal in its own right, but the fur was part of a broader campaign. found. In other words, it was a campaign to counter the question, “Wait, what's going on?” right now? ” The heyday of branded flash mobs that generated tremendous energy.
Oh, and Donald Glover is also involved in some way.
As Ryan Kailas and Precious Fondren reported for Gothamist, the courtside furry photo shoot was just one in a series of baffling incidents that took place in New York City this week. Grover shared on social media.Another event included the New York Comedy Club being “evacuated”, but the venue was later evacuated confirmed on social media This is part of a project by event producer HiHi.
According to a Gothamist article, HiHi is also the namesake of a contest advertised for late 2023, and interestingly, the phrase is also central to the new series. Mr. and Mrs. Smith, starring Glover and Maya Erskine. (The entity's Instagram profile asks the timeless question, “Would you risk everything to have it all?”) As Keegan Kelly pointed out in an article for Cracked , Comedy Club's departure was relatively topical earlier in the week, but at what cost?
Alternatively, there is a broader question at work here: Is any publicity really good publicity? This is certainly getting people talking, but the tone is less about celebrating absurd comedy and more about why this is happening or what it has to do with new streaming shows. Doubts are stronger. We live in truly strange times.
