“I was struck by the aggressiveness and tenacity of the suspect in this video.”
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — An act of street violence was caught on camera. It happened Friday near Watt Avenue and eastbound Business 80 during rush hour in Sacramento.
“We were surprised by the aggressiveness and persistence of the suspect in this particular video,” said Officer Reuben Jones, a CHP spokesman.
The video showed the truck driver swerving toward the blue car, not once but twice. The driver tried to exit the highway, but the truck weaved through the traffic and followed closely behind.
“As aggressive as the pickup driver was, I was lucky I didn't hurt myself. I was lucky that I didn't hit anyone else,” Jones said.
The video shows the aggressive driver chasing the other car across the median.
“Crossing across the median like that to chase someone doesn't really matter what's going on. You have to let it go,” Jones said.
Jones stressed that this type of behavior on the street is a serious crime.
“Charges can range from something as minor as reckless driving to assault with a deadly weapon, where the vehicle is the weapon. Assault with a deadly weapon is a very serious offense,” Jones said. .
CHP says anyone who is the victim of a traffic accident should remain in their vehicle. If the person is following you, call 911 and obtain the make and model of the other person's vehicle, license plate number, and directions to the nearest exit.
“If you know you're close to a police station exit, drive right to the CHP station, the Stockton Police Department, or the Sacramento Police Department. You know you'll be safe there,” Jones said. .
