This is a strong brand statement at the heart of VCU Health's new brand platform.
The “UN” brand was designed to tell the story of VCU Health's unwavering dedication to providing a superior healthcare experience, incorporating feedback and input from thousands of patients, team members and the community.
The new platform is based on nine interchangeable and customizable “UN” phrases, each intentionally chosen to capture the spirit of VCU Health.

“These phrases were not chosen at random. They were identified after listening to many people, including patients, their families, team members, community members, and partners,” said VCU Health Sciences Department. said Marlon Levy, MD, Interim Senior Vice President and CEO of VCU Health. “These words were chosen because they truly represent the health of VCU.”

The new platform is strategically aligned with Virginia Commonwealth University's brand to achieve a more cohesive look and feel across all medical and academic campuses.
“This is the first brand platform that brings together universities and health systems and where we speak with one voice,” said Grant J. Heston, vice president of enterprise marketing and communications. “This enterprise brand exemplifies the excellence that is the hallmark of VCU and VCU Health, with a focus on the people who make us special.”
The “UN” brand provides an opportunity for all members of the VCU medical team to talk about our work and who we are in a way that is different from other hospitals and health systems. It's also a way to tell our story directly to the patients we serve.
“This platform was developed as a foundation to tell the stories of our health care providers and team members, and the work they do every day to maintain and restore health to all people in Virginia and beyond. , provides a lens through which to tell the story of who we are in our own unique way,” said Kendra Gerlach, vice president of strategy and marketing at VCU Health. “When patients see our story and our brand, we want them to feel hopeful and reassured that when they come to us, they are in good hands.”
The new brand platform will officially launch with the launch of a new VCU Health commercial on Sunday, January 28th. Be sure to tune in during the National Football League's AFC Championship Game, broadcast on your local CBS affiliate.
As part of the launch, the VCU Health News Center will also publish a series of articles highlighting the platform. Last month, members of the VCU health team were asked to share their stories and “United Nations” phrases at health system-wide events. The excitement was palpable. Thousands of team members stopped by to take photos, pick up equipment, and tell us in their own words what makes VCU Health unique.
We are excited to share some of these stories with you. It begins with a remarkable story of unwavering dedication that led three members of her VCU health team on a journey to reunite her family after more than 30 years apart.
