ST. George — A 14-person committee selected by the Utah State Commission on Higher Education will search for Utah Tech's next president. Three in-person public meetings were held from February 7th to 9th.
The Presidential Search Committee is co-chaired by Utah Higher Education Commission Commissioner Danny Ipson and Utah Tech Board of Trustees Chair Tiffany Wilson. The organization is comprised of representatives from the state board, Utah Tech's Board of Trustees, and stakeholders at the institution, including faculty, staff, students, administration, alumni, and community members.
“I am excited to begin the search for Utah Tech's next president with my fellow search committee members,” Ipson said in a press release. “The Utah Tech Presidential Search Committee is dedicated to working collaboratively with members of our community.”
Wilson said the committee is looking for “an inspirational leader with a keen ability to inspire students to achieve their dreams and goals.”
Richard “Biff” Williams announced in December 2023 that he would step down from his position effective January 5 to pursue other professional opportunities. And as the school transitions to a new president, it also signals the need for new leadership.
“We are looking for leaders who have exceptional leadership skills, deeply value the rich culture and traditions of the University, and embrace the mission of a unique polytechnic focused on active learning and active living. ,” Wilson added..
