HOUGHTON — Women and older adults in our community are experiencing gaps in accessing the specialized care many of them need. Ongoing health and wellness services are important for people of all ages, but women and older adults often require specialized healthcare expertise. Upper Great Lakes Family Health is filling that gap with the addition of her two board-certified specialists.
Obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Ebon Sheksnaedr and internal medicine specialist Dr. Zainab Almarous are now working full-time at the community-led healthcare organization. Both are excited to relocate to the Houghton/Hancock area and help patients live healthier, happier lives.
Upper Great Lakes Chief Operating Officer Bailey Patrick is excited about how Schexnaidre and Almarous will expand care for women and seniors in the region.

Dr. Schexnaydre, FACOG, is a comprehensive obstetrician-gynecologist. “Having meaningful and positive connections with young families and women of all ages and families is extremely rewarding.” Schexnaidl said.
She specializes in prenatal health through childbirth and a full range of gynecological services, including minimally invasive surgery.

Schexnaidl earned his MD from Louisiana State University School of Medicine and completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency and internship at Tulane University School of Medicine. Dr. Almahrous is a highly skilled internal medicine physician who specializes in geriatric medicine. Her number one priority is to reduce pain and discomfort for people with complex illnesses.
