San Francisco-based UCSF Health and Roseville, California-based Adventist Health have shared a joint intention to reopen and operate Madera (Calif.) Community Hospital, which has been closed since early 2023.
In the partnership, UCSF Health will provide the hospital with clinical oversight, including safety and quality programs that align with the health system's standards of care, while Adventist Health will oversee the hospital's operations and operational efficiency, according to a February report. Adventist Health had reached an initial agreement with the hospital on its own last July, but ended its management pursuit last November.
The health system also plans to work with the Madera County (California) community on what services the hospital will provide and how those services will be structured.

News of the joint offer comes with competition, as American Advanced Management, a hospital management company based in Modesto, Calif., also shares a continued intention to acquire and reopen hospitals.

UCSF recently signed a $100 million definitive agreement with San Francisco-based Dignity Health to take over two hospitals in the city: St. Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Mary's Medical Center.
