SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – Tyler Obedience Training Club (TOTC) announces it is delivering pet oxygen masks to local fire departments after raising funds to purchase 97 masks in 2023 did.
On Saturday, TOTC announced it had provided six sets of masks to the Lindale Fire Department to deliver oxygen directly to animals that inhale smoke. Each mask set reportedly comes with small, medium, and large masks.
“Many of our members live in this area (Lindale), so we are excited to have these new masks put to use for our community,” TOTC said.
TOTC says it plans to deliver the masks to fire departments around Smith County in February.
On Friday, TOTC announced that 22 sets of masks were delivered to the City of Tyler Fire Department and will be distributed to 10 other stations around Tyler. TOTC said wearing a mask increases a pet's recovery rate after a fire.
Tyler FD thanked the Tyler Obedience Training Club for their donation in a social media post.
“These will be installed on all of our response equipment to protect pets in our communities,” FD Tyler said.
According to TOTC, three mask sets were also delivered to the White House Fire Department earlier this month.
White House FD said masks are a lifesaving tool to better serve our communities.
