Two SSM health leaders were recognized at the Catholic Health Association of America's (CHA) 2024 Awards.
Dr. Ron Hummel, former SSM Department of Health Chairman and Director, is the 2024 recipient of CHA’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Additionally, CHA announced Megan Timm as the 2024 Tomorrow's Leaders recipient. Tim, Regional Medical Director for SSM Health's Wisconsin Region, joins 11 other emerging leaders from across the United States to receive this honor.
Winners will be recognized at CHA's annual conference, Assembly 2024, in June.
“I believe there are few people more deserving of this honor than Ron,” said Laura S. Kaiser, FACHE, president and CEO of SSM Health. “His passion and dedication to Catholic health care is inspiring. Ron has an amazing way of clearly understanding complex issues through the lens of Catholic moral teaching and ethics. As Chairman of SSM Health Ministries , he provided wise counsel and valuable insight that helped further our mission for the benefit of those we are privileged to serve. Join Ron in Missionary Work I am grateful to have been involved and equally fortunate to count him as a friend.”
Dr. Hamel served as president and chair of SSM Health Ministries, a St. Louis-based sponsor of SSM Health, and served on the sponsor board from 2014 to 2022. He was also a member of the SSM Health Board of Directors from 2014 until December 2021. He is also a former senior ethicist at CHA.
CHA's Tomorrow's Leaders Program was established in 2011 to identify and recognize promising young leaders who provide strong leadership and dedication to Catholic health care.
Tim's selection as one of Tomorrow's Leaders is praised by Rosie Perez, SSM Health's Wisconsin Regional Vice President of Mission Integration.
“Megan always exceeds goals and expectations with her loving smile and heart, even as she works in increasingly challenging healthcare environments and communities with the greatest need,” she said. “I have always been in awe of her ability to passionately connect with clinicians and ministry leaders in their efforts to improve community health, especially around the social determinants of health. Not many people have it. We are blessed.”
