Like the men's side, the Virginia Tech women's basketball team has an active transfer portal. They've seen not only players come and go, but coaches as well. Two days after the Hokies lost to Baylor in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, head coach Kenny Brooks left to take the same position at Kentucky. It took seven days to find a replacement for Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock. On April 3, it was announced that Virginia Tech had hired Megan Duffy from Marquette.
This certainly looks like a good hire to continue the tradition established by Brooks and his previous staff and players. Since the end of the season, Virginia Tech has been watching women's basketball trends on the portal and running tracker.
georgia amoore
With one year of eligibility remaining, it's no surprise that Amoore left shortly after Brooks did. She entered the portal with a non-contact tag and committed to Kentucky to join Brooks in her final college season.
clara strok
Strzok was the second player to leave after Brooks, and he got better and better as the season progressed. Like Amoore, the Buffalo native entered the portal with a non-contact tag before also committing to Kentucky.
Gabby Brooks
In not the most surprising departure, Kenny Brooks' daughter entered the portal with a non-contact tag and will likely end up in Lexington as well.
Samiha Souffran
Safran was the first player to enter the portal, but new coach Megan Duffy said she thinks she will return to the Hokies next season.
