Former Democratic presidents are preparing to rally around President Joe Biden to drum up voter enthusiasm and money.
NBC News reported that aides said a fundraiser between Biden and former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton could be held in March or April, adding that the plan is still in its early stages. However, it is reported that it is still in progress.
The 2024 presidential election is shaping up to be a rematch between Biden and former President Donald Trump in 2020. Some voters remain unenthusiastic about a rematch, and some are concerned about Biden's age. Mr. Trump is 81 years old. He turns 78 this year. Both men will therefore be in their 80s during their second presidential terms.
The proposed campaign fundraiser indicates: Mr. Obama and Mr. Clinton may agree that Mr. Biden needs all the help he can get. While it is common for incumbent presidents to have an approval rating below 50%, Biden's approval rating has hovered in the low 30% range for the past year.
“There's a real focus and urgency on making sure we defeat President Trump,” an anonymous Biden adviser told NBC. “Everyone is giving it their all, and these early events are just the latest demonstration of that.”
