NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Today is National Puppy Day — a fitting day for Metro Animal Care and Control's new initiative, Paws Across Metro, recently launched in parallel with the Metro Council.
Each month starting in March, Metro Council members will meet a dog for adoption.
“Metro Council members have shown interest and care in the work we do here at Metro Animal Care and Control,” said MACC Director Ashley Harrington. “By providing opportunities to interact with the animals that make MACC so special, local policy makers are encouraging adoption, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of the invaluable companions animals provide.” I hope you will share it.”
According to MACC, this is another great way for dogs to experience life outside of a shelter. Their mission is to promote responsible pet ownership, provide compassionate care to animals in need, and strengthen the human-animal bond.
Deputy Mayor Angie Henderson met her furry friend for the first time.
“We are delighted with this collaboration. Metro Council members are working extensively throughout the city to share information with constituents and bring attention to all the wonderful dogs available for adoption at MACC,” she said. .
MACC is the City of Nashville's animal shelter. We are open seven days a week from 12pm to 4pm for adoptions and other pet needs. If you would like more information about adopting a dog, please email adopt.macc@nashville.gov.

Town of the Town celebrates its 40th anniversary!
“One of the great things about working at NewsChannel 5 is learning about the amazing history of the station itself. Names: Bob Robertini…Chris Clark…Hope Hynes…and, of course, Oprah. Of course the newscasts. Also included: Night Train…Hee Haw…and TALK OF THE TOWN, which is celebrating 40 years on the air and is one of the longest-running locally produced talk shows in the country. Our head of storytellers, Forrest Sanders, takes a fun and nostalgic look back at the popular show we'll just refer to as…Tot. enjoy! “
