The animal shelter operated by Stanislaus Animal Services Agency (SASA) in West Ceres will temporarily reduce its adoption fees through Sunday, April 7, to reduce the number of 239 dogs in its care.
The shelter has made great strides in reducing the population from its peak numbers through pet adoptions, but pet ownership is “unsustainable in the long term,” the shelter said.
The shelter is large enough to comfortably care for just 183 dogs.
In an effort to alleviate overcrowding and find loving homes for left behind dogs, SASA is holding special adoption events with donors covering the adoption fees for all adoptable dogs. Masu. Each dog will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and ready to take home.
“We recognize the importance of finding a permanent home for these dogs and are grateful for the generosity of our donors who made this event possible,” said SASA Executive Director Vaughan Morris. “
The shelter recently received a total of 327 dogs after 87 were rescued from a home on Hollister Way in Ceres. Widespread news coverage of abuse and animal abuse cases led the shelter to receive community support for adoptions.
“We are extremely grateful for the outpouring of support from animal lovers here and abroad,” Maurice said. “The response from individuals, rescue organizations, volunteers and donors has been truly inspiring and has aided our efforts to provide care and find homes for these animals.”
For residents who are unable to adopt, the shelter encourages people to consider fostering a dog, volunteering at the shelter, or making a donation to support ongoing costs.
“We are all part of a caring community that cares about our furry residents. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of shelter pets and ensure they receive the love and care they deserve. You can make it possible.”
