One of our editors, Lauren Gonsalves, points out that she has three German Shepherd dogs and that they shed all the time. Also, her broom was an old one with synthetic bristles and she used cheap clear duct tape so she didn't stick to it very well. “After just a few strokes, the tape became covered in hair, and soon the ends of the tape started falling off the broom,” Gonsalves said. The editor also said that he replaced the tape as it came off, and the second and third tapes didn't last long either. She soon gave up on hacking.
Gonsalves noted that she sweeps quite aggressively, which may be a contributing factor to why hacking was less of a reality for her. She also added that stronger tape may provide more durable results. One thing she noticed that worked was that using the tape reduced the flyaway of hair strands that often get blown away during sweeping motions.
Her conclusion: “I can see this hack working as a final sweep after I'm done, making sure to catch all the tiny hairs that the broom tends to miss. But (for me… ) It's too troublesome.'' It's an effective hack to use on a regular basis. In addition to the tape falling off frequently, I didn't realize that the tape had a big impact on the amount of hair stuck to the end of the broom. ” So, while @mrdiy.malaysia recommends this hack, it may not be so ideal if you try it.
