Thungela has announced that Thungela Marketing International (TMI) has been registered with the Dubai Multi Commodity Center Authority (DMMCA) with effect from December 15, 2023.
The Dubai office will house an export marketing team operating under TMI, which will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of marketing functions across both South African and Australian assets.
Juli Ndlovu, CEO of Thungela, said:

TMI gives us direct access to the maritime market and strengthens our relationship with our customers. Our presence in Dubai is a testament to the steps we are taking to diversify geographically and become a major player in the international market.”
The expansion into Dubai underlines Tungela's intention to remain responsive to the needs of its customers and the global commodity market, intentionally positioning the company as a coal producer with a global presence.
