Texas football coaches have been on the road since late January, visiting top recruiting targets in the 2025 and 2026 classes while assessing the heightened expectations in both cycles.
In the past few weeks, Texas coaches have made multiple new offers for further targets in the 2025 and 2026 classes. Many of these new offers will be key targets for the Longhorn Tribe at key positions during the 2025 recruiting cycle.
Texas also has many of its top recruiting targets in the next few classes heading into the first big junior day of the offseason on Jan. 20. During their Junior Day celebrations a few weekends ago, the Longhorns made two important commitments.
It was the first of two commitments the Longhorns made over Junior Day weekend for the 2026 class, and a high-value target at a key position for the 2025 class. The first commitment in the 2026 class was speedy Aledo (Texas) running back Raysyn Guillory Jr.
The key 2025 commitment the Longhorns landed on Jan. 21 was highly touted four-star Pleasant Grove edge rusher/athlete Lance Jackson from Texarkana (Texas).
Texas has a lot to sell to potential recruits early this offseason, especially in the 2025 and 2026 classes. The momentum the Longhorns have built on the trail should continue into February as he approaches the spring evaluation period.
Here are the Longhorns' three 2025 recruits heading to Texas in February.
A new running back offer that has caught the attention of the Longhorns earlier this offseason is Ricky Stewart, a four-star recruit from Tyler (Texas) Chapel Hill and SMU Mustangs commit. Texas State and running backs coach Tashard Choice made an offer to Stewart, who visited for Junior Day on Jan. 20.
Choice and the Longhorns are looking to sign two running backs in the 2025 class. The top priority returning to the 2025 class is high four-star Jordon Davison of Mater Dei from Santa Ana (Calif.).
Stewart is one of Choice's favorite backs for the quickness and explosiveness he brings to the position. He has vision and has exploded into becoming a consistent home run hitter in head coach Steve Sarkisian's offense. Stewart also has good hands and is elusive in space, making him a strong target to exploit in the receiving game.
Texas was given something of a crystal ball by Mike Roach of 247Sports to make Stewart's commitment a reality.
When Stewart first committed to SMU last summer, it was largely due to his relationship with then-SMU RB coach Kennon Hall. Hall is currently on the staff of the Baylor Bears, so his current school and Texas were reportedly the two most talked about programs for this recruitment earlier this offseason. .
