Did you know there are limits to the number of pets you can have within Rochester city limits?
Not too long ago, I was doing a pet adoption event with Paws and Claws.I really care about these events, because of course I want to take them home all Those animals.
That said, I tried fostering and both completely failed to foster. That means they're my dogs now and that won't change.
Anyway, I was at an event cuddling a super cute puppy when one of the volunteers told me I should adopt this puppy. I joked that I already have more pets than are allowed in Rochester.
Her response surprised me.
“Do you have nine pets?”
Wait, what??!
Obviously I was out of line with the number of pets I thought were allowed in Rochester. I currently have 4 dogs. Yes, it's a small zoo in my opinion.
But according to city ordinances, you can totally eat a few more! ! Don't tell my kids!
According to the City of Rochester's website, “No person shall be kept.” Multiple animals of 9 or more Must be at least 6 months old in a Rochester household. The term “more than one animal” means two or more cats, dogs, or ferrets. ”
“Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary, No person may own more than 6 dogs Persons 6 months of age or older in a household in the City of Rochester. ”
