On Saturday, Texas Tech lost 82-74 to No. 10 Iowa State in Ames, and the Red Raiders fell to 7-5 in the Big 12 and 18-7 on the season. Here are his three takeaways from this game:
Cyclones protect and defeat Red Raider
Iowa State's very solid defense performed as advertised against the Red Raiders, forcing 10 turnovers in the first half and scoring 20 points off those turnovers.
The Red Raiders made 18 fewer field goals in the first half than the Cyclones due to turnovers and nine first-half offensive rebounds for Iowa State head coach TJ Otzelberger's team.
Although Tech was inferior from a size standpoint, the Cyclones were too much for the Red Raiders and could not handle the basketball.
Technology security guards continue to struggle
Pop Isaacs has struggled for the Red Raiders the past two weeks, and Saturday was no different.
Isaacs went 2-11 from the field and 0-7 from deep with four turnovers, while Chance McMillian also went 4-10 from the field and 0-6 from beyond the basket. I had a tough day.
Joe Toussaint had his best day as a guard, shooting 6-9, including three 3-pointers.
KyeRon Lindsay had a great day
Kieron Lindsay, who had struggled to break into the lineup up until this point in the season, stepped up and was one of the Red Raiders' best offensively in the early game against Iowa State.
After Warren Washington was unavailable Saturday, Lindsay's phone number received a call. But he still appears to be on the right track after Washington injured his leg in Monday's win against Kansas State.
Following Saturday's loss, Tech is scheduled to play TCU in Lubbock on Tuesday.
