SPRUCE HEAD — After an extensive search and rigorous interview process, The Craignaire Inn has hired St. George resident Gillian Bedell as its new Marketing Director. Bedell is an author and creative consultant.
Previously, she was a copywriter and content strategist at Dream Local Digital, creating campaigns for small businesses in Maine and beyond. Her clients include Mad Gab's Lip Balm, Herbal Revolution,
Maine Lobster Festival, Rock Harbor Pub and Brewery.
Her professional passion is storytelling and connections, and she has worked as a freelance marketing consultant for local businesses such as Fraura Flowers and Wine in Thomaston, Hello Hello Books in Rockland, and Village Ice Cream and Bakery in Port Clyde . She is the lead researcher and writer for her Delicacies Jewelry, a line of gourmet fine jewelry, and is working on a collection of essays about Maine. Ms. Bedell said in a news release that her background in higher education, as a ghostwriter in the health and wellness field, and as a contributor to publications such as Down East Magazine said it has influenced her work in her new role.
Bedell holds a BA in 20th Century American Poetry with minors in Myth Criticism and Roman Catholic Theology from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut.she is the author of Eating in Maine, a collection of recipes, travelogues, and memoirs. She is the mother of her two daughters.
Bedell serves on the board of First Universalist Church in Rockland and is happiest reading, writing, and walking on the beach. She said she is excited about the challenge and is grateful to work in such a progressive, creative, ethical and beautiful environment.
Greg and Lauren Soutia operate The Craignaire Inn by the Sea and Causeway Restaurant in Spruce Head.
