LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The 23rd-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders will take on the TCU Horned Frogs on Tuesday at 8 p.m. inside United Supermarket Arena.
Tech (18-7, 7-5 Big 12) will be looking to match TCU's record after losing to Fort Worth last month. TCU (18-7, 7-5 Big 12) is on a four-game winning streak against Tech, while the Red Raiders are 13-1 at home this season.
The Red Raiders defeated the No. 9 Kansas Jayhawks 79-50 last week and lost to the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday.
“We are excited to play against TCU on Tuesday,” Tech coach Grant McCasland said in a Tech Athletics news release. “What's really important to us is how much we can improve on defense. How well can we rebound the basketball? If we can continue to make progress in those areas, we'll get to where we need to get to.” I thought our players were great. It's important to not turn the ball over and give them baskets in transition. They're an active team that is good defensively. It's important for us to take care of the ball and take great shots. It will be.”
Pop Isaacs continues to lead the Red Raider offense with 16.4 points per game. Joe Toussaint leads the team with 4.2 assists per game and scores 12.5 points per game. The Red Raider's top rebounder was Warren Washington with 7.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. But after missing the game against Iowa State, he's been listed day-to-day with a foot injury.
TCU's win over Kansas State on Saturday featured a career performance from former Red Raider Micah Peavy. Peavy scored 26 points with nine rebounds against the Wildcats that night. In their last matchup, they scored 18 points against Tech.
“They have a real foundation in how to play the game,” McCasland said in the release. “They are playing the game better and more efficiently. I think in the first game we gave them comfortable shots, but we can't do the same anymore. We have to make things harder. yeah.”
Tech and TCU will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. Tickets for the game can still be purchased here.
