EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Texas Tech Health El Paso held a day-long health science hands-on workshop for children on Saturday, Jan. 27, at its campus located at 5001 El Paso Drive.
“Medventure for Your Future,” a free annual event, aims to foster a passion for science and medicine by introducing students to a variety of health science careers through fun activities, according to a press release sent by the university. It is an object.
The event offered interactive science workshops and provided parents with creative strategies to encourage their children's exploration of health science.
This year's workshops included How to Stop Bleeding, Dental Hygiene, Myth Busting for Pre-Teens, and the ever-popular Crime Scene Investigation. The event also includes a tour of the university's medical education building, according to a press release.
Kelly Tomblin, president and CEO of El Paso Electric, gave the keynote address and warmly welcomed students and parents. El Paso Fire Chief Jonathan Killings also spoke during the event.
Tomblin has been a dedicated supporter of Texas Tech Health El Paso since arriving in El Paso in 2020 and serves on the President's Development Council, according to a press release.
“The long-standing partnership between our university and El Paso Power reaches another milestone with a $45,000 grant received last year from El Paso Power’s Utility Charitable Foundation. , is dedicated to promoting educational innovation and environmental stewardship – the three pillars that guide its efforts,” the press release states.
