ARLINGTON — Brady Trombello pitched four scoreless innings in his collegiate debut, Kevin Buzzell and Gavin Kash had big hits for four runs in the third inning, and No. 22 Texas Tech defeated Texas on Tuesday night. They beat Arlington 13-1. Globe Life Field.
Buzzell broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third inning, curling inside and hitting a two-run double into the left-field corner. Kash then hit a two-run home run into the right-center bullpen.
It was the first home run of the season for Kash, who led the Big 12 with 26 hits last year.
Rookie shortstop TJ Pompey hit home the first two runs in the ninth inning, trailing by four runs. Five Tech relief pitchers pitched an inning, with Trendan Parrish giving up the only run on three hits. Hudson Parker, Hudson Ruth, Chandler Coe, and Cole Kase allowed no hits until the final four innings.
The game is the fourth in the past five days for Texas Tech (3-1), which concludes its road trip at noon Wednesday against No. 7 Oregon State (4-0).

Who is Texas Tech baseball pitcher Brady Trombello?
He's a freshman right-hander from Ridgefield, Wash., in the southwest part of the state. He attended Prairie High School, which produced two former major leaguers, first baseman Richie Sexson and relief pitcher Alan Embry.
Trombello made his first appearance at Tech, allowing four hits, no walks, and four strikeouts in four innings. He showed poise and held UTA batters to an 8-0 margin with runners in scoring position.

Owen Washburn and Austin Green continue to swing hot bats at Texas Tech
Washburn singled twice, giving him two hits in four consecutive games this season. He is making up for lost time. Washburn's 2023 season ended on April 8 when he suffered a dislocated elbow.
Green had two doubles and an RBI, and is now 12-for-12 with seven hits and six RBIs over his past three games.
Cade McGee and Gage Harrelson finally find their hole
McGee and Harrelson both had their first hits of the season. McGee had a single in the 6th inning and went 0-for-8 as a starter.
Harrelson went 0-for-8 with seven strikeouts, but in the fifth inning he hit a base hit on a bunt and came back to score. He then added a ground ball.
McGee was hitless until Tuesday, but the Gonzaga freshman reached base in the fifth inning against Oregon on Sunday, walking three and getting hit by two pitches.
