SUGAR LAND, Texas – Louisiana Tech defeated Air Force in a dominating battle of the ballparks. Louisiana Tech (11-0) defeated Air Force (4-7) 8-5.
Louisiana Tech allowed Air Force three hits and three runs in the first inning.
The Falcons added two more runs on Jay Thomason's RBI double and Jake Grieving's RBI double to make it 5-0 in the second inning.
Louisiana Tech faced its largest deficit of the season by five points. Tech scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Bulldogs came out on a wild pitch from Air Force, allowing Dalton Davis to score. After a 5-1 score, Louisiana Tech scored two runs off Carson Evans' two-RBI single and scored Ethan Bates and Adarius Myers. Carson Evans scored on an RBI hit by Logan McLeod to make the game 5-4. Cole McConnell's double and scores from Logan McLeod and Brody Drost gave Tech a 6-5 lead.
Tech loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth inning following a double by Adarius Myers, a walk by Michael Ballard, and a single to center field by Carson Evans. Junior Brody Drost walked and Adarius Meyers scored, increasing Tech's lead to 7-5. Michael Ballard's RBI double led to a score by Adarius Meyers, giving the Bulldogs an 8-5 lead.
After giving up five runs in the first two innings, Tech's pitching wrapped up the game. After the fourth inning, the Bulldogs allowed three hits the rest of the game. Jacob Haven pitched 1.2 innings as a reliever, allowing one hit and striking out two. Sam Brodersen pitched 2.0 innings, striking out four, walking one, and allowing one hit. Ethan Bates made his third save of the year.
