The leaked PlayStation 5 Pro specs have been verified and added to by the tech experts at Digital Foundry, who also provide predictions on how GTA 6 will run on the unannounced console.
This week, a PS5 Pro spec leak, also verified by IGN, reveals the capabilities of the console that Sony is reportedly planning to launch in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The PS5 Pro's CPU is said to be identical to the standard PS5's CPU, but it comes with a “high CPU frequency mode,” which increases it by 10% to 3.85GHz. The GPU enables fast rendering at 33.5 teraflops and high-quality ray tracing. The standard PS5 delivers 10.28 teraflops. However, if you compare PS5 and PS5 Pro directly, it's about 10.28 vs. 16-17 teraflops.
The release of the PS5 Pro is considered particularly attractive in the context of the 2025 release of GTA 6, which is expected to push the video game market beyond developer Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two.
However, according to Rich Leadbetter, founder of Digital Foundry, who spoke on the latest episode of DF Direct, the PS5 Pro's CPU will run at 30fps on a standard PS5. It is said that it will probably run at 30fps. Considering no GTA game has been released with a 60fps option, this seems to be nailed down.
According to Leadbetter, if GTA 6 runs at 30fps on PS5, it will also run at 30fps on PS5 Pro unless there is some programming miracle. This is because the CPU handles the simulation, and the PS5 Pro's CPU only provides a 10% performance increase. By any chance, if in GTA 6 he has his 60fps mode on PS5, then PS5 Pro will also run at 60fps.
According to Digital Foundry, the PS5 Pro's CPU looks like a slight improvement, but the PS5 Pro is much better at rendering than the PS5. Digital Foundry predicts that the PS5 Pro will be able to bring older PS5 games from 1080p to 4K via the upscaling/anti-aliasing solution PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling) if developers choose to support the technology with patches. It is said that it can be upscaled.
According to Digital Foundry, the PS5 Pro retains the same 16GB of GDDR6 memory as the standard PS5, but features an additional 1.2GB of system RAM for developers.
Last month, analysts suggested that: Sony is 'likely' to launch PS5 Pro in late 2024. Sony is determined when it comes to releasing his Pro version of the console. For example, PS4 Pro was launched in November 2016, three years after the launch of PS4.a PS5 Pro will be released in November this year This will be four years after the PS5 was released in November 2020.
Sony has revised its PS5 sales forecast for this fiscal year, lowering it from a lofty goal of 25 million console sales to 21 million. This is despite PS5 sales for the 2023 holiday season increasing from 7.1 million units to 8.2 million units compared to the previous year.
Sony also says this elsewhere: No existing major PlayStation franchise games will be released by April 2025It rules out the possibility of major sequels to the God of War and Spider-Man series happening anytime soon.
last month, Sony announces devastating layoffs More than 900 staff in the gaming business were affected. Sony's London studio closes.
