SALT LAKE CITY — Paws and Petals is a service project with one goal: to help those experiencing pet loss.
The story of “Feet and Petals” began as a small idea by Jaslee Paul, a student at Utah State University.
In one of Paul's classes, she had to start a project related to her future goals.
Paul decided to combine his dream of making flower arrangements with his love of animals. And thus “Paws and Petals” was born.
“Not only myself, but I also have a lot of friends who have had to give up their pets. I know how difficult it is,” Paul said.
“I wanted to do something that would give back to my community as well as give back to people who are having to make difficult decisions.”
Paul said her service project is a nonprofit, and she uses the donations received to purchase items needed to make the flower arrangements.
These flower arrangements are given to people who have to have their pets euthanized.
This project has been in collaboration with Cache Valley Humane Society, Bridgerland Cache Animal Hospital and Roy Animal Care Clinic.
Currently, the project is focused on northern Utah, specifically the Roy and Logan areas.
“Actually there was a lot more [euthanasia’s] It was better than I expected,” Paul said.
“It’s really sad, but I’m glad I was able to help people.”
As of March 3, she had delivered about 35 wanted letters to people who handle pet euthanasia, according to the poll.
Paul said he hopes the project will continue after graduation and expand to more veterinarians.
People can donate to the project by visiting Poll's GoFundMe, the project's Instagram or by donating at Cache Valley Humane Society.
