A Zionsville resident has created a “one-stop shop” for busy moms.
Vicki Duke, a mother of one daughter, will launch Insomnia Mom in the fall of 2023 with the goal of helping busy women and mothers “organize, balance, and direct” their lives. Established.
“I started coming up with this idea about six years ago,” Duke said. “As a busy mother myself, I wish I had a place or company where I could take the things I needed to ease the mental burden of daily stressors.”
Insomnia Mom is a Zionsville-based business serving busy mothers and women across Indiana. The company has a variety of consultants who help tutor children, advise universities, provide financial education, share their expertise with small businesses, and more. Each consultant specializes in different areas depending on your different needs.
“We have more than a dozen consultants who support parents as they navigate life's challenges,” Duke said. “From kids with ADHD and neurodiverse diagnoses to kids looking to go to college. We can help with everything from aging parents and organizations, from personal needs to family support for women. . We cater to all ages and stages of life.”
Consultants Kathy Bimiller and Sarah Bennyworth, who belong to a mom group with Duke, decided to get involved in the business.
“Once we decided to launch, we hired them to work together and perfect this model,” Duke said.
Biemiller, a communications specialist who works in Insomnia Mom's communications department, said she was “immediately intrigued” when Duke told her about the company's idea.
“I’m excited to be part of a business whose goal is to provide resources and support to all women,” Bemiller said. “We understand the demands our busy society places on women, and the demands we place on ourselves. We provide communications expertise to disseminate information.
Insomnia Mama and our consultants bring me great joy through print and digital media. ”
Benneyworth, Organized Life Facilitator and Resource Director for Insomnia Mom, said he is honored to work with the company.
“Knowing Vicki and her history of tenacity and successful endeavors, I was confident this would not fail,” Benneyworth said. “What I love most about this company is that we are truly women supporting women. We are here to encourage women, including the female consultants who run the company.”
Insomnia Mom will hold a grand opening of its office space at COhatch, 75 N. Main St., Zionsville, on March 20th at 4 p.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Zionsville Chamber of Commerce will be held on the building's front steps.
“We did a soft launch, which is very common for startups and any company,” Duke said. “The reason we did this was to gain recruitment and customers and strengthen our services. A difficult launch is to further strengthen the public relations part. We are ready to say launch. Now that the model is complete, we want to expand our services, and we thought spring was the perfect time to do it.”
Duke said companies like Insomnia Mama didn't exist when she became a mother. She spent several years designing it and had a soft launch last fall.
“We want to ease the mental burden so women can move on with their lives so they can focus on what really matters, like finding time for themselves, their friends, and their families.” said Duke.
Duke, who has lived in Zionsville for 12 years, said the name Insomnia Mama comes from the stressors that keep mothers up at night.
Outside of his work at Insomnia Mom, Duke is a full-time real estate agent with Schuster Duke Realty Group. A native of Chicago, she attended DePaul University and St. Xavier University, where she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education.
Duke still applies her college knowledge to her work at Insomnia Mom.
“I was a school teacher and then I moved to Zionsville and started a tutoring company and ran it for many years,” Duke said. “I decided to become a full-time real estate agent and bring that tutoring company, along with all my other services, under his Insomnia Mom umbrella.”
Duke believes her business can also meet the needs of women who want to learn more about the small business community.
“This connects women in our community who own small businesses with women in our community who need small business services,” Duke said. “We are building a network like this that connects women small business owners with the women who need their services, and provides a hub and communication to provide individualized and flexible local support and resources within their communities. There really isn’t a model.”
Insomnia Mom hosts community events throughout Zionsville and in COhatch several times a year. Events include live workshops, virtual meetings, on-demand and digital libraries.
