It's an exciting time for Stardew Valley players, as creator Eric Barone has been slowly rolling out updates over the past week, all culminating with the release of patch 1.6 earlier today. Many new features have been added, including new festivals and seasonal events, a mastery system, new farm types, and more NPC interactions.
However, Stardew Valley's latest update now allows players to own multiple pets at once, as well as more dog and cat breeds, so put all that exciting stuff aside for the time being. I'm going to put it there. But who needs a dog or cat now that we choose to keep turtles as pets instead?
Randomizer Mod Mess Makes Stardew Valley Feel Fresher Than Ever
The adventurer's guild is in my house. The saloon is located in a cave on my farm. This game has never been more meaningful and I love it.
Yes, according to the game's new patch notes, this update will now allow you to choose a turtle as your first pet or bring it to your farm at a later date. However, in order to have more than one pet on the farm at any given time, Yu will have to work hard, as the starter must ensure the maximum number of hearts possible for her pet. She will then be able to welcome her new turtle friend into her home.
As of now, this patch is only available on PC, so those on consoles will have to make do with Lonely Pet for now. For those on PC, the update is currently available on both Steam and GOG, but Barone explained that the Game Pass version will take a little longer and apologized for the delay. For turtles, the wait is never too long.
If you're an avid mod user, Barone explains: Many mods will continue to work in patch 1.6 (the complete list of which can be found here), and says they have created an option for players who want to stay on version 1.5.6. However, he also recommends that players try version 1.6 without mods, although he admits that some may not want to do that just yet. Honestly you should drop everything for turtles anyway, mods are shit.
