Spotted cold rain in the north, warmer and wetter in south-central Pennsylvania
By the end of the week, the highest temperatures will be spring-like.
It's late this morning and the rest of the area is dry. So, in our news, the Eight Storm Team's forecast calls for patchy freezing drizzle in the northernmost counties. The temperature in the south at 9am this morning has been around 30 degrees since the afternoon, and it has been dry. After nine consecutive days of temperatures in the 20s and 30s, the temperature is finally in the 40s. We'll see cloudy skies with a chance of showers in the afternoon or evening. Well, there will be some scattered showers tonight. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing in most areas. Tomorrow will be cloudy with rain expected to start in the late afternoon. Widespread, steady rain will continue tomorrow night and throughout the day. Thursday. Therefore, it is stable and light. That's good news. Although very heavy rain is not expected, snowpack is expected to melt as temperatures rise into the 50s. On weekends it can get close to 60. As such, we will continue to monitor any minor flooding concerns. right? Right now it's 29 degrees in Lebanon, 29 degrees in the morning in Harrisburg, yours is 21 degrees, and 26 degrees in Lancaster. And although there were clouds tonight, it's been a little warmer at Selinsgrove in Lewistown, elevation 30, and today's wind speed of 37 is no problem. It should be very light at best 5 mph. And here on the Storm Team's live radar network, light winds are expected for the next few days. Again, this is the northernmost county. I think it's raining in small patches of freezing rain. I think it's the area north of Interstate 80. We'll have our best chance of seeing it late this morning, but we're still watching this Gulf moisture build into high pressure, which will impact us over the next few days. So today looks like patchy freezing rain in the north, followed by mostly dry weather through the afternoon/evening. At this point, we're only looking at a few showers around mid-morning tomorrow, but we still have a chance of a few scattered showers tomorrow afternoon. tomorrow night. At that time, it will rain more consistently. Look at this. Rain will fall Wednesday night into Thursday and continue throughout the day Thursday as a series of fronts move into the region. This means that the rain will be concentrated at the top of the Susquehanna Valley. Forecasts are going back and forth on precipitation totals right now, but I think around an inch is probably a good estimate for how much rain this system will have by Friday. The weather forecast for the past 10 days calls for wet weather starting Wednesday evening. Thursday followed by early Friday morning wrap-up Friday is the day when temperatures will likely reach the near 60s and into the low 50s. There's certainly a spring preview out there. But on Sunday, temperatures will return to winter reality with temperatures reaching 44 degrees. Temperatures will be in the 40s on Monday and will be in the low to mid 40s for most of next week, but it certainly won't be that cold.
