Texas Tech (23-10, 11-7 Big 12) qualified for the NCAA Tournament as the No. 6 seed in the South Region and will face North Carolina State in the tournament opener.
North Carolina State is on a miraculous five-game winning streak, winning the ACC Tournament and earning a spot in the Big Dance.
“We know they have great guard play and we'll be ready. I mean, even if we win five games, we won't be ready,” Tech head coach Grant Macca said. Thrand said. “We're going to play a great team that's in great shape and it's going to be a difficult game to prepare for, but we'll be ready.”
The Wolfpack has a very strong guard in DJ Horn and a very talented big man in DJ Barnes, which will be a big challenge for the Red Raiders.
“We have an opportunity to play against teams that are the effective size of our league. I think we have to game plan in different ways to protect that,” McCasland said. “Whenever you're matched up with an opponent that's this effective, it's not just one person defending it, it's the whole team. So you have to have a game plan so everyone can participate, and you can do whatever you can to make it as difficult as possible.” We must do our best.”
The matchup will take place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and if the Red Raiders qualify for the Sweet 16, Tech will head to Dallas.
