“Kelly says that during her maternity leave, she feels like being a single mother because her husband will be traveling. He will return home at some point, but for most of the first month, Kelly will be on her own.'' You will spend it.
“She asked me if I wanted to help. I lived five hours away, but I told her I had to stay the night. Traveling that much is hard. said I could stay in the house for a month and help out. I agreed.”
However, things take an awkward turn when Kelly suggests that she needs to pay her mother some of the rent.
“Today I was informed that I will be living in this house for a month and I need to pay rent,” the mother said.
“I told her I didn't do that. I'm not going to pay her any more because I've already done her a huge favor.
“As a result, an argument ensued.”
She said she thought it was inconsiderate for her daughter to “not help with the bills” after she refused to pay a month's rent.
“I think she's being unreasonable,” her mother said.
“I told her I wouldn't be staying over right now, and she lives alone. She thinks I'm being petty about this too.”
The mother said she had no intention of helping her daughter when her grandson arrived.
“That's unexpected,” she explained.
“I've been moving so many things to make this work and now I'm not doing it. I was already not thrilled about not being able to sleep for a month.
“Maybe they'll show up on the weekends, but they'll never spend more than a few days there.”
Her post received more than 1,100 comments, with many agreeing with the future grandma's decision.
“She didn't appreciate the opportunity and let it pass. I hope she learns from this. On a different note, congratulations on a good night's sleep,” one person wrote. said.
Another said: “Is your daughter delusional?” Her husband can't, so you're leaving the house to help. They should pay you. ”
One person explained: “If you pay a nanny, she'll quickly realize that she shouldn't have asked her mother to pay her rent. The rate for a nanny in my area is $20 an hour, which means 10 hours a day. That's $200 a day. Obviously, my daughter needs to sign up for a remedial math class. In this case, the math wasn't math (sic).”
Another woman added: “I'm pregnant and a single mom. If someone offered to stay with me for the first month, I'd jump at the chance and of course I'd need them while I was with them.” I will take care of everything that you do, because after all, they will do me a favor and help me. If anything, I feel like I owe them a debt. ”
