We all love our dogs and cats and want them to live forever. Just like humans, they don't do that, but fortunately pets are living longer and longer lives. My friend's poodle passed away last year, one month shy of 19 years old.
Here are a few local dogs (and cats) that are at least 10 years old (considered senior among pets). And we all want that to be the case for our pets too.

Lois Pope has done so much for pets in this county and further afield. And one of her (many) dogs did something for her. She lived longer so she could love him longer. Hercule Poirot — yes, so named after the Agatha Christie character because he was always looking into things — was due to turn 18 on June 1st. However, while I was writing this story, I received the news that little Hercule had passed away. Losing a beloved dog is a terrible thing and our deepest sympathies go out to Lois.
