Usually, people start talking about their New Year's resolutions around this time. But one company, Seguin, wants to make sure members of the community reach his 2024 goals.
Pecantown Books and Brews, located on S. Camp Street in Seguin, is holding a mental health fair for area residents on Saturday.
“We know that at the beginning of the year, many people are looking for ways to improve their health, and with many people focusing on their physical health, we are proud to introduce January in Pecantown to We decided to call it Mental Health Month, we are,” said Kathy Brandt, event coordinator for Pecantown Books and Brews.
Speakers at the event will also include therapists, nutritionists, and chiropractors who will answer questions about battling depression and anxiety.
Brandt told KSAT that a personal experience inspired her to plan the health fair.
“I had severe postpartum depression. It was so bad that I needed help, but there weren't many resources available,” Brandt said. “I didn't know where to go. I didn't know who to turn to.”
She added: That way, we can send people to communities in need. ”
The Mental Health Fair is free and open to everyone from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, January 20th (see below or click here for details).
“I just want to tell people that it's okay to struggle, it's okay to have hard days. But what we want you to do is reach out to those you love and care about and be there for them. Because they don't want you to feel the same way,” Brandt said.
