The 6-foot-1 guard led the Hokies in scoring and assists during the regular season, averaging 16.1 points and 4.4 assists. Playing in the ACC, Pedula took his game to a new level, averaging 17.3 points and 4.5 assists, ranking eighth and fifth among league players, respectively.
Pedula joins former teammate Grant Basil Since 2004, only two Tech men's basketball players have scored 30 or more points in consecutive games, and on January 15, he was named ACC Player of the Week. This season, Pedula has scored 20 or more points and 15 or more points in seven games. A game in which you recorded at least 5 assists. Pedula also recorded two double-doubles, making him one of only two ACC point guards to accomplish this feat.
In his third season in Blacksburg, the Edmond, Okla., native has improved his game at every level. He increased his scoring average from 15.0 to 16.1, his assist average from 3.8 to 4.4, his rebound average from 3.6 to 4.3, and his field goal percentage from 41.7 percent to 42.3 percent.
No. 8 seed Virginia Tech opens ACC Tournament play Wednesday against No. 9 seed Florida State. Tipov is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET inside Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. In two games against the Seminoles this season, Pedula scored 26 points and 19 points. The Hokies split the season series with FSU, with both teams winning at home.
