The quick response of several local fire departments saved two homes from a rapidly spreading outdoor fire.
The fire broke out just before 5 p.m. Thursday when residents of a home in the 700 block of Morrison Bridge Road were burning cardboard. The wind picked up and the fire quickly spread out of control.
One small hut collapsed. Another warehouse attached to the small house was also destroyed.
On February 15th, a fire destroyed a hut in Lobelia.
The grass fire also spread to the edge of one of the homes, but was extinguished and damage was limited to some melted siding.
The Sandhills Sentinel spoke with one of the homeowners at the scene who said he was extremely grateful for the quick response and great work of everyone who saved two homes.
Some dogs and cats were unharmed in the fire.
The North Carolina Forest Service was notified and a line was plowed around the fire scene.
NC Forestry Services sets up a line around the fire area at a residence in Lobelia on February 15th.
The Moore County Fire Marshal was also on scene investigating the fire.
Responding units were Cranes Creek Fire Department, Cypress Point Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire Department, Fort Liberty Fire Department, and Moore County EMS.
