JACKSON, MI — The Jackson County Animal Shelter, located at 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.
Here we will introduce two of them.
Rudy is a 5 year old mostly brown American Staffordshire mix. Rudy came in as a stray, but he had lost his hair due to ringworm. I'm better now and my hair is growing back.
Rudy is a happy pup and is always happy to see everyone. He plays a lot with some of the neighbors in his kennel. Rudy is very treat-motivated and will quickly learn basic commands. Instead of a chocolate bunny this Easter, how about a new chocolate puppy?
Kimchi is a beautiful brown and black long-haired tabby cat. She was surrendered by her owner who had so many great things to say about her. She lived well with a toddler and a dog in her previous home.
Kimchi loves baths, loves being brushed, uses the toilet well, and likes to sleep with humans.
You will notice that the kimchi is shivering and wobbly at times. This is because she has cerebellar hypoplasia or wobbly cat syndrome. Her movements may be jerky or uncoordinated, causing her to lose her balance.
An online application is required to adopt a dog. Meeting the dog is also a must. You can use a cat room walkthrough to test your reactions. Dog adoption fees are $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, and include vaccinations, microchip and neutering.
Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat or $80 for two cats and include applicable exams, vaccinations, and spay/neuter.
While it's always best to visit a shelter, other adoption resources include applying online at https://www.co.jackson.mi.us/2302/Our-Adoptable-Animals, 517-780- 4750 or email to animalshelter@mijackson.org. .
