Rice University's Office of Financial Management has changed its name to the Office of Operations, Finance and Support (OF&S). The name change was facilitated by the process of developing a five-year departmental plan to support President Reginald Desroches' future university strategic planning ambitions.
OF&S' strategic plan will guide the department as it pursues transformation initiatives and redoubles its efforts to support the president's growth goals, OF&S Executive Vice President Kelly Fox said. .
The new name, announced the week of March 4, signals a high-level plan for how OF&S can support the success of the university as a whole, Fox said.
“I think the name Operations, Finance and Support effectively captures everything we do,” she said. “By ending with that word 'support,' you're really talking about the infrastructure we provide to the university. It shows the caring community we create. We're committed to… It helps me envision a new day for all that I am.”
Fox and her team leveraged feedback and insights from a wide range of community members and incorporated this input to refine the department's mission and vision statement, which the OF&S Working Group then incorporated into the creation of the department's goals and objectives. I used it.
“We are committed to excellence in all aspects of our service,” Fox said. “This means making every effort to improve customer satisfaction at every opportunity. We foster a culture of empathy, transparency, and responsiveness while anticipating the evolving needs of the university. By nurturing our customers, we will continue to provide an unparalleled customer experience in our diverse communities.”
The university community is invited to learn more about this initiative on the recently launched OF&S Strategic Planning website. Fox and her team will provide more details about the campus' planning goals, objectives and initiatives in April.
