Meet Cleo, an amazing dog who has the will to live despite losing her right leg. Cleo was found lost in Oklahoma and rescued. Her resilience and joy inspired the team at 3D Pets to develop innovative prosthetics using cutting-edge technology. In this article, we explore the fascinating world of 3D pet prosthetics and the technology-driven process behind this life-changing innovation.
Customization is critical to providing effective prosthetic solutions, as each animal has a unique situation. Gone are the days of a one-size-fits-all approach. The 3D Pets team utilizes advanced scanning technology, such as the iPhone's LIDAR scanner and true depth camera system, to obtain accurate dimensions and measurements. This allows us to design a custom-made prosthesis for each pet's specific needs, including shape and weight capacity.
Once Cleo's dimensions are accurately scanned, the digital file is transferred to the design software. Here the team molds and refines Cleo's design to perfectly fit his 3D scan. This process is similar to using 3D Photoshop and allows for intricate adjustments and fine-tuning of details.
The design then moves on to 3D printing. 3D printing turns out to be ideal…
