Britain's Prince Harry and his actress wife Meghan Markle are working with Netflix on two nonfiction series, a lifestyle show and a professional polo show, the production company announced Thursday.
The couple, who split from the British royal family in 2020 and now live in California, signed a multi-project deal with the streaming giant in the same year.
So far, the partnership has resulted in Harry & Meghan, a much talked about six-episode documentary series starting in December 2022.
The new project appears to be less controversial.
The first, “curated by Meghan Markle, celebrates the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining and friendship,” Archewell Productions said in a statement.
Just last month, she launched her own lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.
The second series will “give viewers unprecedented access to the world of professional polo,” it said in a statement. Harry is a long-time polo enthusiast.
The episode was filmed primarily at the US Polo Championship in Florida.
“Primarily known for its aesthetics and social scenes, this series brings back the spirit and passion of the sport, capturing athletes and everything they need to compete at the highest level,” Archewell said in a statement.
Both shows are in the early stages of production, with titles and release dates expected to be announced “in the coming months.”
Since stepping away from royal duties, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been cut off from the royal purse and forced to develop their own sources of income.
The couple, who married in 2018, had an exclusive Spotify podcast deal, which ended last year after just one show.
Meghan, who is of mixed race, has repeatedly complained that she was mistreated during her time as a working royal, and is currently estranged from the royal family.
Prince Harry briefly visited the UK for his father Charles III's coronation, and returned after the king was diagnosed with cancer.
Prince Harry reportedly hasn't spoken to his brother William in months. Following the news that Prince William's wife Kate is also battling cancer, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan said, “We wish Kate and her family health and healing.''
