The Port Authority will put itself on par with other top police departments across the country with $15 million in police technology upgrades to improve response times and communication during critical incidents.
Mark43, the private police technology company that signed the contract, says the new technology will reduce dispatch response times and improve officer safety and situational awareness through a new interface and passback of dispatch information.
The Port Authority Police Department has the largest traffic-related police force in the country.
“The Port Authority Police Department is making significant investments in technology to strengthen collaboration with partner agencies through information sharing, increase operational efficiency, and equip our officers with high-tech tools.” Port Authority Police Department said Superintendent Edward Setner. According to Mark43, PAPD could also create a more efficient report writing system that would allow officers to write reports from the scene, saving time and increasing accuracy.
Another feature, Mark43 said, is a new data analytics platform that provides insight into crime trends to inform resource allocation.
Mark43 works with more than 250 local, state and federal public safety agencies to modernize police forces across the country, typically taking a mobile-first approach to police enforcement, the company said. Stated.
