MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police say they caught a group of robbers stealing from the Hollywood Feed on Union Street early Thursday morning.
They took one person into custody and recovered more than $2,700 worth of pet-related items.
According to a police report, officers were driving by a store in the 2000 block of Union Avenue around 4:30 a.m. when they saw a white Ford pickup truck backing into the store and a man wearing black clothing. He said he noticed three men loading goods into a truck.
Officers said they also saw the front door of the Hollywood Feed shattered.
Police said all three suspects fled the scene, but they were able to capture one of them. The man reportedly had several coins in his pocket.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the white truck had several bags of store merchandise in the bed and a black cash register drawer in the driver's seat.
The robbery occurred three days after three men robbed a Game X Change at a small strip mall next door.
Police released a video of the armed robbery on Facebook, but did not say whether they believed the two crimes were related.
MPD said the Game X Change robbers left with cash, smart watches and cell phones.
The Hollywood Feed suspects took dog food, collars, treats, bones and other items and returned them to the business.
So far, Hollywood Feed has not commented on the intrusion.
