PENN HILLS, Pa. (KDKA) — A new company wants to reduce weekly chores. They will take your trash to the curb and put the can back when the trash is gone.
Taking out the trash can be a chore for some people who don't want to or can't do it. That's why this business started. To really help people who might not be able to help otherwise.
“Hey, we're all humans. I think everyone forgets to take out the trash sometimes. It's a burden. That's one of the things we want to make sure you don't have to worry about at home. ” said the Curbside Appeal owner. Mike Proski.
Prosky and his business will come to your home, take the cans to the curb, and when they're all gone, put them back in their rightful place.
“We wanted to do it for the elderly, people who don't have time, people like me who don't really want to do it themselves,” Prosky said.
According to Allegheny County census data, 20 percent of the population is over 65 years old, and that doesn't include people with physical problems or limitations that prevent them from taking out the trash.
“I think there are a lot of people who can't or are physically unable to take out the trash, including people with disabilities and the elderly,” he said.
The cans won't get smaller either. Prosky is about 6 feet 2 inches and some cans reach his waist.
“I don't see an end in sight in the future because it's just going to get heavier,” Prosky said.
Prosky began operations in March and has a small number of customers in the Penn Hills and Plum areas. He plans to continue operating his business in the eastern suburbs for the time being until he launches his own business.
Garbage disposal fees are $40 per month for weekly service and $20 for biweekly service.
“People are surprised that this service exists and think it's great,” he says.
