Blacksburg, Virginia – The Pitt Panthers lost 18-0 to the No. 12 Virginia Tech Hokies in the series opener Friday night at Tech Softball Park.The Panthers were held to three hits. Kat Rodriguez (2 to 1), kylie griggs (2 to 1), and KK Esparza Picked up a hit for the Panthers (2-for-2 with one hit).
Rodriguez led off with a single through the right side, giving the Panthers their first hit. kylie griggs His double against the wall in the top of the second inning extended his hitting streak to a season-high five games. The Hokies got off to a strong start, scoring seven runs with three home runs in the bottom of the first inning. Virginia Tech scored four more runs on three hits in the second inning and added four more in the bottom of the third. The Hokies totaled xx home runs that night and scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Emma Lemley pitched 4.0 innings, allowing three hits and striking out eight, giving the Hokies the win. kyla pitman (4-6) was the reason for the loss.
